Essays
I journal as much as I can, but also take time to write personal essays should something big in my life occur. Or something small. Whatever nonsense is important to me at the time. David Sedaris is one of my favorite authors, and I credit him for allowing me to find my own voice by mercilessly ripping off his. You can see it in some of my earlier essays, his tone and pacing displayed very readily. My apologies to Mr. Sedaris, but I thank him for allowing me to experiment, giving me a starting point so that I can make a voice of my own. While I may never be as good as he, I can at least take comfort in the fact that now my subpar work is, at least, my own.
