Photojournalism
Below is some of my favorite photos from writing stories in the cities of Denver and Boulder. We journalists are required to be very versatile to fulfill the many necessary requirements that come with making a good story. My photography is my most improved skill since I first took a photojournalism class in college. While I still have plenty to learn, I’ve become well acquainted with my camera and feel confident in my ability to focus and expose correctly on the fly, so whenever the best photo opportunity presents itself, I am there at the ready.
Closing of Quality
The Quality Inn was a homeless shelter run by the city of Denver and was dedicated to housing those who were vulnerable to COVID-19 during the peak of the epidemic. The Department of Housing Stability unexpectedly shut down the shelter 3 months before it was supposed to, leaving over 130 people with adverse health risks to go back to the streets. These photos depict the Inn during the final days the shelter remained open.
